Description
Micro-photography was first suggested as an archive medium to preserve documents in the early 1850's
In 1928, a camera for microfilming bank cheques was developed. It's inventor, George McCarthy was later to become president of Recordak (Kodak's microfilm division).

Since that time, microfilm has been a cost-effective media and universal archive method. Microfilm has been used widely in financial, medical, military and many other markets because of its proven life span. Microfilm that is 80 years, even 100 years old is still readable today. While many customers today prefer the convenience and accessibility of digital data, some nuclear, bank and government accounts still prefer the proven longevity of film.
